Our World
The welfare of animals,
the well-being of humanity,
and the preservation of our planet.
Compassion
We examine the presence of animal-derived materials in each brand's products and their production methods, with a particular interest in identifying products that embrace an animal-free and cruelty-free ethos. We inquire about animal testing and whether the brand engages in any activities that may exploit or harm animals. Brands are also encouraged to showcase their certifications or labels that signify their unwavering commitment to cruelty-free and vegan principles, such as Leaping Bunny, PETA, Vegan Action, and The Vegan Society.
Conservation
Understanding a brand's environmental responsibility is paramount. We inquire about the steps taken to reduce their environmental footprint, which may encompass the use of recycled materials, innovative textiles, sustainable packaging, carbon offsets, and more. We also investigate the prevalence of natural or recycled materials in their products.
For brands who incorporate synthetic virgin materials, we seek insight into the proportion. We delve into closed loop or circular practices, such as clothing repair and product refills.
We value certifications and initiatives that signal a commitment to sustainable practices, including OEKO-Tex, Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), Global Recycled Standard (GRS), and Climate Neutral.
We are realistic about sustainability and for this reason we do not claim that any of the products listed on our website are 100% 'sustainable', as the term has not yet been defined. We believe in research, action and transparency. You can read more about our stance on sustainable materials here.
Community
Our exploration extends to the treatment of workers involved in the production process. We seek assurance of ethical treatment and fair wages. We delve into the supply chain, aiming to ascertain how far back it has been traced. Certifications or initiatives are appreciated when they signify a brand's dedication to fair trade and ethical practices, as demonstrated by examples like Fair for Life and the World Fair Trade Organization. Transparency concerning sourcing and manufacturing processes is likewise welcomed. Brands are encouraged to provide us with information on any community social projects or charity donations they take part in.
